财团法人台北市老人基金会于民国76年(1987)7月20日经台北市政府社会局核准设立，以「老吾老以及人之老」为服务宗旨。在因应时代环境的老人需求下，陆续成立助养组、防护组、协寻祖、救援组，以贫困、孤苦、遭弃养的老人为主要协助对象，90年起成立服务组，使服务范畴扩及一般老人。老人基金会在台北立案，但服务范围遍及台湾和正在进行的大陆，我们以牺牲、奉献、卑微的心态，尊重、关怀老年人，期望竭尽所能的协助需要协助的老人。
The Taipei City Old People's Foundation was established in July of the Republic of China (July 20) by the Taipei Municipal Government Social Bureau on July 20, with the aim of "old and old".
